Portrait Services
Longmont & Boulder portrait photographer for creatives & entrepreneurs
Plenty of portraits show what someone looks like. I’m after what it’s like to be in a room with them. Every session starts with a conversation. I pick up the camera when the moment is right, and the photographs flow from that conversation.

Who I photograph
Makers · Kids and teens · Individuals
If you have a story, a craft or a world of your own, I’d like to meet you.
I photograph individuals, makers and small business owners. If you have a story, a craft or a world of your own, I’d like to meet you. I also photograph kids and teens, from about six through high school seniors, who’d rather skip the sunset-in-a-field photo and the stiff smile.

How a brand session works
Documentary, not styled
A phone call
We make sure we’re a good fit, then set a date and time.
We talk
What you do, who it’s for, what the photographs need to show.
I follow your work
I photograph you doing what you do, in your space, for a few hours. I’ll ask for a moment or two, but mostly I watch.
You get the story
Portraits plus the work, the space and the process, edited as one set.
What to expect
There’s no script and no need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you when you need it, then step back so your personality comes through.
00
A phone call.
First we talk on the phone to make sure we’re a good fit. If all goes well, we schedule a date and time.
01
We talk.
Before the camera comes out, we talk about who you are, what you’re doing and what the photographs are for. That way we get exactly what you need.
02
I photograph.
When the moment’s right, I’ll start taking photos.
03
Your photographs.
A private gallery of edited photographs within two weeks, usually less. How many depends on the session: 5 from a short session, 30+ from a portrait session, more from longer ones. I’d rather give you the right frames than every frame. Use them on your website, on social media or in the press.
Where
Usually somewhere that’s yours, such as your home, studio, shop or workspace, or a place that matters to you. I work in Longmont, across Boulder County and along the Front Range.

Questions
How long is a session?
A short session is 30 minutes in front of the camera, for headshots or kids, with time to settle in first, and includes 5 edited photographs. A portrait session is 90 minutes with 30+. Portrait + your work runs up to three hours with 60+, and a full day is about eight hours with 90+.
What’s the difference between a headshot and a portrait session?
A headshot is a short, focused session for a few clean photographs of you. People use them where others need to recognize you, such as a website, LinkedIn, a speaker bio or a press feature. A portrait session is longer and looser. We’ll take our time, design the photographs together as we go, change outfits, and photograph you somewhere that matters to you. You leave with a range of photographs that show who you are. People use them on an About page, in press, on social media or on the wall.
What if I don’t like being photographed?
Not everyone does, and that’s fine. Every session starts with a conversation, and I pick up the camera when the moment is right. You don’t need to know how to pose.
What should I wear?
Whatever you’d put on for a good day and still feel like yourself in. Solid colors tend to photograph well, and big logos distract. If you can’t decide, bring a second option.
What if my child is shy?
That’s what the extra time is for. Kids get a few minutes to settle before I take a single photograph, and the session stays short so no one runs out of patience.
When do I get the photographs?
In a private gallery within two weeks, usually less. Use them on your website, on social media or in the press. If you need or want printed photographs, I’ll help you with that. Please let me know in advance.
How do I book?
Start with a note on the contact page, and we’ll set up a phone call to make sure we’re a good fit. If all goes well, we schedule a date and time, and a 50% non-refundable deposit books it. If you need to move it, the deposit carries over to a new date with 48 hours’ notice.
Do you travel?
Travel is included in Longmont, Boulder, Louisville and Lafayette. Within about 45 minutes it’s $50, within an hour it’s $100, and farther than that I’ll quote it.
Editorial
I also photograph for local publications, including Inside Longmont. If you’re an editor or reporter who needs a photographer to portray a person or a place as it is, get in touch.
